BROWNS' BACKYARD ON KOIN TV!

Reporter Lynn Huston with camera man Ollie set up their satalite truck in our back 40 promptly at 4:00 am Monday the 25th for live broadcast on the KOIN Morning Show. They also did several taped interviews that they edited and aired on the KOIN evening news a little before 6:00 pm. We heard from a neighbor that it also aired on KEZI channel 9 in Eugene on the Tuesday evening news. The subject was how we deal with no water. Mr. Huston had googled for a story on water he was doing for the morning show and came up with the Itemizer article done the week before on our water problem. He contacted us about featuring us for the morning show. Since we never asked for the Itemizer story or the TV interview, we felt it was the Lord's leading in our lives to go ahead with them. Like Queen Esther, maybe we were brought into the kingdom "for such a time as this". If our interviews can help the whole neighborhood to obtain water through public opinion, then so be it. If we needed more confirmation on whether this was the right thing to do or not, it came from Dennis' boss. Before we ever heard about the TV interview, she offered him Monday the 25th off because of all the Saturdays he's been having to work. Now you can't tell me that isn't a God thing!

GARDEN OBSESSION

It's a rainy day and I'm afraid I got a sinus headache just going out to check and see if I needed to water anything. I don't! Praise the Lord. Thank you Jesus for the rain (even if it means a sinus headache!) So I thought I'd get caught up on some indoor projects: Washed, hulled, and put the strawberries Josiah picked last night in the freezer, rehung my photo wall so the boys' senior pictures are no longer laying around on the floor, and remade all my floral arrangements to reflect summer instead of spring. I was going to make some pillows for my front porch, but just couldn't stay away from my flower garden...so I'm blogging it! I took these pictures yesterday. It's the middle of June and a lot of the iris are still blooming away!

GRAMMY'S BIRTHDAY AT THE OREGON GARDENS

It may have been pouring down rain Saturday for our planned outing to the Oregon Gardens, but no one was complaining. We had a great time and had the place all to ourselves! Then it was back to the Browns' for hot sausage stew and cheese bisquits, with pineapple upsidedown cake and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Happy Birthday Grammy!

JESSI HOME FOR A SURPRISE VISIT!

Wow! What a surprise! We opened the front door expecting Stacy Proaps and her folks, and there standing with them is Jessi! Stacy had talked Jessi into coming home with her from Virginia for the Memorial Day weekend to help her with wedding plans. Thus they were at our front door to discuss wedding cake! Jessi was a big help too, I might add. Sunday afternoon was our time together with Jessi, so we took her to Schreiner's Iris Gardens. I know, we went the week before too, but you can never go there too often in my opinion. Besides it's free!

Notice the little sign in the picture below. For those of you who don't know, the "Blue Ridge" are the so called mountains in Virginia. But in an Oregonian's eyes, they're more like big hills! We thought the sign labeling Jessi as the "Blue Ridge Beauty" very appropriate! Don't tell Schreiners but she's worth way more than $20!

Before heading home, we took her to Adelman's Peony Beds, where we enjoyed taking pictures of the peonies.

BROWN'S IRIS GARDEN TOUR

Below in the left foreground of the picture is the little Fringe Tree that Daryll found for me. I've been wanting one for a couple of years for this spot, because they bloom when the iris do. It's been handy having Josiah work at Daryll's Nursery. All I have to do is send a note along with him to work and he asks Daryll if he has such and such. After searching far and wide for the Fringe Tree for me, Daryll even delivered it personally! However, I had to plant it myself as Josiah is doing for Daryll all those things he used to do for me. However, Daryll pays him much better!

IRIS GARDEN TOUR

For those of you who couldn't make it to the "Brown's Iris Gardens" during peak iris bloom, here's a sample of what you missed.
We even have iris around the holding tank out back! We're back there a lot now that we're back to hauling water everyday, so might as well make it pretty!
