SUNDAY AFTERNOON BEACH TRIP

Right after church we headed for Newport and then South along the coast.
We'd heard that the farther south you went, the better the weather.
They were right. It was beautiful. Not even any wind at Cape Perpetua!!!

We had great fun hiking around all the rocky inlets.

Devils Churn was mesmerizing as usual, as was Spouting Horn even though the tide was out. We watched wave after wave come crashing in. This is one of my favorites with the wave still all piled up.

We ended the day at Mo's. Where else?

FORCED FAMILY FUN!

Josiah at Devil's Churn.
He brought along friend Brian.
Jeremiah, not up for all the hiking, chose to stay home.
So much for forced family fun!
Carissa waiting for the next wave at Spouting Horn.
She really is having a good time, despite the look.
The Enforcers!

ATTENTION GRABBERS!

Cow Elk sighted on the way up Cape Perpetua.
Spotted the Bull too, but he got away before we could shoot him!
Really! Horns and all!
Sea Anemonies in a tide pool on hike down the beach between
Devil's Churn and Spouting Horn
Pussy Willow!

BOYS ON TOP OF THINGS AS USUAL!

Josiah and his friend Brian.
Who knows what they're up to this time!
Stone Shelter at Cape Perpetua.
Yes, they are on the roof!
Better view I guess...except the ocean is the other direction!

ONE LAST LOOK

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE PICTURE!

This is my great neice, Emma in the white, and my great nephew, Benton in the green.

#1. "I don't care how much you protest, Emma, it's my turn to stuff the thingy in the hole!"

#2 "Oh, okay, Benton, I didn't realize it was your turn. I'm sorry!"

#3 "Benton, do you think it's my turn yet?"

#4 " It's finally my turn, but those balls are so...ooo pretty, I think I'll just look at them for a while!"

Sorry it took so long to get these on the blog. They were still in the camera!

AREN'T TAX REFUNDS GREAT?

We were finally able to replace that old, worn out braided rug!
Don't you think it makes the room look bigger? It sure makes the room a lot lighter!

COPY CAT

Sheba is about to be copied!
Her kittens are due Friday! Oh, the pitter patter of little feet!
Check our link to Cat's Cradle for the results.

SNOW IS COOL, BUT SO LAST SEASON!

I know, it's not iris time yet either, but I miss them.
Iris time is my favorite time of the year!
This particular one is called Mezmerizer.

If it's orange, it's Jeremiah's. This one is Avalon Sunset.

And this is...Oscar the dog! Don't let those hound dog eyes get to you. He does it on purpose for sympathy! However, I must say he's my best and most faithful walking partner!

MORE SNOW!!

Looks more like Christmas than March 10th!
Notice Moses in the lower left hand corner. He loves the snow! Very unusual for a cat!
In fact he was actually bounding back and forth through the deeper snow in the lawn!

Is this a Forsythia or Pussy Willow?

I just loved the composition of this picture. Figured Jessi might too!

If you compare this picture of Mt. Pisgah taken this morning with the one on the blog taken yesterday, you can tell the snow level dropped considerably. However, unlike yesterday when it snowed all day, today the sun has come out and it's a balmy 41 degrees! Bye-bye snow! Since we were on snow routes today, Jeremiah got to stay home and the boys made snowmen everywhere, hoping they'd take longer to melt. However, they aren't faring very well. That sun is pretty potent when it comes out this time of year!

WE GOT SNOW!!

The Daphne blooms are now nestled in snow...and
they still smell wonderful!

The camellia blooms too, seem to be competing with the snow for attention.

Mt. Pisgah is above the snow line also, sporting its white clear cut. It has been snowing off and on all morning, very heavy at times. We're hoping for more accumulation tonight as the freezing level is supposed to drop even lower. Our prayers for snow have finally been answered!

BRIGHT SPOTS IN THE WINTER LANDSCAPE!

I've been meaning to put these pictures on the blog for a couple of weeks, but got too busy with the scrapbooking thing. White crocus are not my favorite from a distance, (purple is) but up close...WOW! What an awesome Creator God we have!

These little Tete' a Tete' Daffodils are one of my favorites because they are the first in my yard to bloom. After the long, wet, dreary winter, they are such a welcome sight! One of the other early bloomers is the Daphne Odora. It fills our entire backyard with its enticing, sweet fragrance!

THE SCRAPBOOK OLYMPICS

Josiah thought he'd give scrapbooking a try.
But I think he got a little overwhelmed.
He just sat there looking at that pile of colored paper!
(Notice the new bookcase in the background! A far cry from the
apple boxes that served as bookcase for so many years!)

Carissa and I actually entered Alysun's Creative Memories Scrapbooking Olympics. We entered late so we were marathon scrapbooking! As you can see, Carissa had plenty of help. She actually finished her Yankee Scrapbook she'd been working on and I finished book 2 of our September Virginia trip. When all was said and done I actually got the Bronze Medal! Now I've moved on to scrapbooking all our iris pictures. That should keep me busy in my spare time for quite a while!
