ERIE CANAL AND DELAWARE GAP

Grandad's one request of sights he would really like to see was the beginning of the Erie Canal in Albany, New York. It was a quick stop, but so beautiful. My imagination always gets carried away as I try to see in my mind what it would have been like all those years ago as it was in peak use.
Then after driving through some more very beautiful country, we came to the Delaware Gap.
Andrew captured this shot above of the gorgeous fall color.
I had to take a picture of this hollow log, as again my imagination got carried away. I was thinking what a great place to go to ground if you were being hunted and chased. I guess I've read too many Nevada Barr books! She is my favorite author by the way. All her books are set in national parks. A great way to "see" the country while being held captive on the edge of your seat with suspense!
And this is the Delaware Gap!
